EPS launches EUR 181.58 million project - Tender for supply of equipment for Kolubara mines open by May 2013

The Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) has launched a project aimed at increasing the efficiency of mining works on the territory of Kolubara Mining Basin. This project should substantially enhance the quality of coal the EPS uses in its thermal power stations. The total value of the project is EUR 181.58 million, EUR 80 million of which are provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), EUR 75 million by the German Development Bank (KfW), and remaining EUR 26.58 million by the EPS from its own resources.
This money will be used to procure dredges, conveyor system and overburden spreaders for a new mine in the eastern part of the Kolubara lignite basin, to purchase overburden spreaders for the existing Tamnava Zapad mine, to buy and install a coal management system for all mining works at Kolubara, as well as to purchase consulting services, including planning, assistance and supervision.
Tender for the supply of equipment was announced in May 2012, and all interested suppliers, contractors and consultants can apply until 29 May 2013.
