Greentech starts construction of factory for producing R-PET granules - Jobs for 50 workers in Mladenovo near Backa Palanka
(the foundation stone laying ceremony)
The foundation stone for Greentech's new factory was laid in Mladenovo near Backa Palanka on Friday (9 November 2012). That will be the first factory in Serbia to recycle PET packaging to produce R-PET granules - a raw material for the production of new PET bottles.
Novi Sad-based Greentech's investment is worth EUR 5 million, and it should be implemented in H1 2013. The plan is to build a wastewater treatment plant and new production facilities and to install a PET bottle hot wash line in a bid to improve the existing production process, as well as to construct a new plant that will be using the state-of-the-arts Vacurema technology for bottle-to-bottle recycling.
- In that way, for the first time in Serbia, waste PET bottles will be recycled to produce R-PET granules that are used as a substitute for original granules used in the production of PET tubes, which are now exclusively imported. Instead of importing expensive original PET granules, PET packaging manufacturers in Serbia will be able to use a cheaper raw material produced in Serbia using a recycling technology in compliance with European standards, which contributes to the preservation of environment in Serbia in addition to being of great economic importance - reads a release issued by Greentech.
Greentech's new factory will enable the creation of another 50 jobs in the recycling industry in Serbia.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by Backa Palanka Mayor Bojan Radman, Romanian Ambassador to Serbia Daniel Banu, Alina Genes, representative of the Managing Board of the Green Group headquartered in Romania (a member of which is Greentech, and Greentech Serbia CEO Mihail Mateski.
