Pirot participates in Adriatic-Danube-Black Sea project aimed at forming multimodal network in southeast Europe
In association with Pirot Free Zone, the local government will participate in the Adriatic-Danube-Black Sea (ADB) project, which involves a total of 16 countries with about 40 partners. This EUR 5.426 million project is implemented under the Southeast Europe Transnational Cooperation Program, Jugmedia writes.
The aim of this project is to form a multimodal network in southeast Europe to enable easier and quicker transport, as well as to form a transportation system that pollutes the environment less. The leading partner of the ADB project is the Region of Venice, while the participants from Serbia are the Ministry of Transportation and the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce.
Vladan Vasic, mayor of Pirot, and Dragan Kostic, director of Pirot Free Zone, were staying in Trieste, the venue of the first meeting.
The municipality of Pirot will receive EUR 200,000 from the project budget. This municipality plays a very important role and manages the implementation of the work package No.3. Its task is to prepare all documentation according to the requests of the leading partner and to manage a work package worth EUR 914,950 in the project implementation.
The main goal of the work package No.3 is to study and present an institutional framework and suggest legal solutions that would allow for the formation of a network of intermodal points. This is the first time that such responsible task within European projects has been entrusted to an entity outside the European Union.
