50m EUR to be set aside for reconstruction of court buildings in Serbia

The Ministry of Justice had provided about 50m EUR from the budget for the needs of the judiciary, said Srbislav Cvejić, financial assistant to the Minister of Justice.

- For reconstruction and adaptation of the building in 9 Nemanjina Street, 20m EUR has been provided. Starting from January 1, 2007, the Appellate Court for the territory of Belgrade should be put into operation in that building, as well as the Republic Administrative Court. That building will also be home to the Supreme Court of Serbia, as well as for Higher Commercial Court – Cvejić explains.

The Ministry provided another 20m EUR for solving of settling problem of courts in Niš, Kragujevac and Novi Sad, for adaptation, equipping or procurement of buildings for other courts and the district attorney's offices in Serbia, as well as for other purposes.

Finally, says Cvejić, 11m EUR has been set aside for investment into Serbian prisons.
