Mercator in New Belgrade open again - EUR 12 million invested in reconstruction of 50,000 sqm shopping center

After a four-month renovation, Mercator Shopping Center in New Belgrade opened its doors again on September 1st. Blue facade, modern interior, new stores and two brands premiering in Serbia are only some of the novelties that cost this company EUR 12 million.

The innovated shopping center, which spans a total of 50,000 sqm, is also recognizable for a very well equipped and technologically perfected hypermarket spanning over 8,600 sqm and a 1,700 sqm technology store. In addition to the renovated infrastructure and an innovative technology that will enable the sale of Mercator products in line with the highest standards, people at this company believe that the new mix of tenants at the shopping center will suit demanding and picky consumers.

Also, aside from the well-known Fashion Avenue brands, Beautique and Intersport, the list of 60 new tenants at Mercator includes brands Lindex and Son's and Daughter's appearing for the first time in the Serbian market, as well as the Monnalisa brand that premieres in Belgrade.

- The four-month modernization of Mercator Center Belgrade represents an extension of the phase of development and expansion of the company Mercator-S as one of the most most significant investors in Serbia that employs over 5,000 people in this country. As the leading retailer in the SEE region, with this EUR 25 million investment cycle, 12 million euros of which are invested in the facility that is now again open to consumers, one more time we prove to be one of the leaders in the area of innovations and technological improvements in the trade sector - Stanka Pejanovic, director of Mercator-S and member of the Mercator Group Managing Board, said at the opening ceremony.

As Pejanovic explained, the innovated Mercator Center Belgrade is based on a concept designed to fit the needs of the 21st century consumers.

- We will remain the first shopping center whose amenities make it possible for buyers to satisfy all their needs in one place in as short time as possible and with pleasure. It is still the first and the right one.

Entrance from Boulevard, coffee shops stay open longer

The greatest "surprise" they count on is the entrance from Zorana Djindjica Boulevard because that is where a fountain and first stores are now located. Instead of going through the garage, buyers can now enter the shopping center directly from the street. Visitors can still use the services rendered by a post office, bank office, dry cleaner, beauty parlor, car wash and a flower shop. Everything is accessible to parents pushing their baby in a stroller, as well as to people with special needs, because there are now platforms with ramps.

This shopping center may also become a place to go out in this part of the city because the opening hours of eight catering facilities will be longer than those of stores. The citizens of Belgrade and their guests will be able to enjoy their drinks and candies at famous restaurants and coffee shops: Mali Princ, Manjez, Mydan, Rezime, Santana, Kul kafe, M restoran, etc.

The most interesting novelty for ladies is a fitness center.

Info for visitors on 32-meter LED screen

When it comes to technology, the biggest novelty is a state-of-the-art system for internal and external digital communication. Apart from a 32-meter LED screen, consumers will be able to use 28 devices to get all information on products, discounts and brands.
