As of September 1st, artisans in Serbia will be freed from the obligation to use fiscal cash registers, it was announced in the new issue of the Official Gazette.

As the Serbian government said in an earlier release, this decision will apply to people in 35 professions, including hairdressers, cosmeticians, photographers, taxi drivers, car mechanics, dry cleaners and undertakers.

Starting next month, repair shops for electronic and electrical appliances, household appliances and furniture, taxi services, craftsmen in the construction business and those maintaining facilities and environment will also no longer be obligated to use fiscal cash registers.

The Serbian government explained that they had made that decision to reduce operating costs during the economic crisis.

Fiscal cash registers for artisans were introduced in late 2003, while taxi drivers were supposed to start using these cash registers on 1 January 2013.
