Construction of main postal center in Serbia, worth 25m EUR, starts in one month in Belgrade

During 2006, company "PTT Srbija" will start one of the biggest investments in its history - the one worth 25m EUR.

It is the construction of the main postal center, as well as procurement of machines that automatically classify letters by codes.

The aforementioned idea exists for a long time, since the concrete structure for the main postal center in Zemun Polje, which should have been used by the entire former Yugoslavia, was built some 20 years ago. Even the Government of Serbia made decision in 2002 that the construction of the aforementioned location be continued and declared that project as strategically important to the State.

However, there have been some changes recently, so that the current management of "PTT Srbija" moved all of its plans to the new location on the Novosadski road, which belongs to the Ministry of Defense of Serbia.

The manager for strategy, development and marketing in company "PTT Srbija", Željko Ivanji, confirmed that the construction of the main postal center was being prepared, as well as that the negotiations with the Ministry of Defense and the Directorate for Property were underway.

According to his words, if everything goes fine, the construction of the facility may start in one month. Following the completion of this facility, the similar center will be built in Niš and Novi Sad.
