Metropol to retrieve old shine - Fall 2012 to see opening of the famous hotel as a part of Starwood luxurious chain
In the next year, Belgrade will get a number of luxurious hotels to host even the choosiest guests.
Apart from Continental which will start renovation July 16 tobecome Crowne plaza after, famous Metropol will be "luxury collection" hotels. It is little wonder because Grecotel, an owner of the hotel, invested incredible 70 million euros!
Namely, the hotel was bought at record 27.4 million euros and 50 million more has been invested in its renovation. London-based MKV design is carrying out the renovation works. Therefore, the overall interior will be magnificent – Jelena Djakovic explained PR and Marketing Manager with Metropol.
- Suites will leave guests absolutely breathless because they will be unique and different, done in the honor of celebrities. Also, ourbar-restaurant on the tenth floor will become a cult place in the city.
Fall should see the soft hotel opening, meaning a reception, lobby, a couple of room floors and a restaurant. The rest of the hotel will open by winter, finishing with spa center which will be the most luxurious beauty spot in the city.
The hotel will still preserve its soul. This is why Greek owners did not spare in renovation process. Thus, at the entrance, a girl having a bath will host guests. The sculpture has been refreshed and the fountain completely new. Apart from that, lobby will welcome mosaic from 1957 again but may be as of winter because its reconstruction lasts for six months. An overnight stay in this luxurious hotel will total the same as in other five-star hotels in the capital
Mid August should see management moving in. The General Manager, Gerasimos Ferdikaris, in the past four years appointed GM with Sofia-based Sheraton, will head the hotel. Apart from managers, 14 people have been selected to workat the reception. The rest of the staff has partially been hired but there is still room for vacancies.
