ILIĆ: Contract on rehabilitation of old and construction of new bridge near Beška to be signed within seven days
Minister of Capital INvestments of Serbia, Velimir Ilić, stated that the European Bank for Rehabilitation and Development (EBRD) had put veto on the possibility that Belgrade-based company "Mostogradnja" get the job of rehabilitating the old and building the new bridge accross the Danube near Beška due to the fact that that company represented false data.
He announced that the contract would be signed within seven days. That means that it is only the question of the day when the public will be informed on who will build the new bridge across the Danube and rehabilitate the existing one.
Long time ago, the tender commission announced that Serbian consortium led by "Mostogradnja" had been the best bidder. However, as the bids of pre-qualified companies expired on June 5, 2006, the project investor informed all interested companies that they could prolong the validity of their bidders for the third time, if they wanted to stay in the game.
That is how the tender for Beška breached all deadlines and entered the third year, because the newly set deadline for selectiuon of contractor is July 6, i.e. August 3, 2006(28 days from the expiration of the deadline).
