Germany's Falke opens EUR 10 million socks factory in Leskovac - Jobs for 600 workers

Germany's Falke opened a EUR 10 million factory in Leskovac on March 16th to produce socks.

This factory will be producing up to 15m pairs of socks and fine tights a year, and it will employ 600 workers in the medium run, which will make Falke the biggest employer in the region.

On the occasion of the opening of the German socks factory in Leskovac, Serbian President Boris Tadic said he was extremely proud of the fact that the company had chosen that city to invest in.

- I am honoured to take part in the opening of such a facility, where 600 people will find jobs. I am proud Falke has chosen to invest in Leskovac and its people, who are good and hard-working - Tadic stated at the opening ceremony.

This ceremony was also attended by Falke CEO Paul Falke, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Verica Kalanovic and German Ambassador to Serbia Wolfram Maas.

- Germany is one of our key partners. We have boosted our cooperation with Germany, brought in investors, and Germany is also the biggest donor. But I believe new possibilities are opening up in the German business community as well now that Serbia has received the status of a candidate for EU membership. We will continue to bring German investors. I expect many German companies will soon be Serbian companies too - said Tadic.

German Ambassador to Serbia Wolfram Maas said that the opening of Falke's new socks factory in Leskovac at the time of an economic crisis represented an exceptional achievement and a proof of Serbia's political stability.
