Company Serbian Railways announced that, starting June 1, 2006, the station in Makiš would become the most important marshalling yard in the international cargo transportation in this part of Europe.

At the meeting with the biggest European freight-forwarding companies "Prodos-Schenker" and "Express" in Salonica, the representatives of Serbian Railways agreed on assembling new trains in Makiš of all international trains from the north, west and central part of the continent and direct them towards south - Greece, Macedonia, Turkey and Bulgaria.
