EUR 2 million for modernization of remote heating system in Leskovac
Implementation of the new phase of the Serbian Remote Heating System Rehabilitation Program, which is a result of successful cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Serbia, kicked off in late January. This phase also includes Leskovac-based heating plant.
Leskovac applied for a grant under this program with the Crvena Zvezda heating plant reconstruction project, which includes the replacement of two existing boilers, the transfer from coal to gas and crude oil and the reconstruction and boosting of the installed capacity of the existing coal-powered boiler. The project also envisages the replacement of about 700 meters of hot water pipeline and the installation of 90 new compact substations with heat meters and regulators.
The total value of this project exceeds EUR 2 million, which will be allocated as a non-refundable grant by the German government. The design of the project documentation, worth about RSD 1 million, was financed by the German Organization for TEchnical Assistance and Cooperation - GTZ, that is, GIZ.
- The primary aim of this project is to establish a susrinable system and create conditions to increase the number of users connected to the remote heating system, while a long-term goal is to enable billing per consumption - Leskovac Mayor Slobodan Kocic stressed.
