(Nis)

Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic, Director of Belgium's Greenworks Serge Amey and Tamara Drecun Vasic have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of a new investment in Nis. It is the construction of a treatment plant for slaughterhouse waste in accordance with Europe's highest ecological and safety standards. This plant is expected to be built in the work zone near Ivana Milutinovic Boulevard. It will employ 400 people, and the total value of the investment is EUR 70 million, it was announced on the website of the city of Nis.

The arrival of another new investor in Nis is a result of the efforts of the Brussels-based office of the city of Nis and the negotiations between Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic and representatives of Greenworks.

This will be the second slaughterhouse waste treatment plant of this company. That waste cannot be used as a food for animals or people, but exclusively for industrial purposes. Greenworks has started building the first such plant in Indjija.

The city of Nis and Greenworks Holding have agreed to join forces to make this unique initiative successful and to make Nis the center of green technology in Serbia and an example to follow for bigger regions, said Greenworks CEO Serge Amey.

The company Greenworks intends to become a leader in the development of large industrial zones in Nis, with the aim of focusing on "green projects" such as slaughterhouse waste treatment, industrial waste treatment, biomass, and turning waste into energy.
