Faster and easier to the sky - Belgrade's airport put new terminal with 33 windows for checking and equipment worth 17m EUR into operation
On May 14, 2006, director general of the Belgrade airport "Nikola Tesla", Nebojša Nedeljković, officially opened the reconstructed Terminal 2 for departures of passengers in the international traffic.
Planned capacity of the terminal is five million users per year. There are 33 windows for the needs of checking of tickets, of which capacity is 1,000 passengers per hour. Behind them is the the room for sorting of luggage whose capacity is 1,500 luggages per hour and it is equipped with the up-to-date devices for detection of forbiden materials.
- By putting this terminal into operation we showed to the international financial institutions that we are company with the clear vision of what we want and how we can do it. Besides, we did not exceed the planned investment of 18m EUR, because the reconstruction cost 17m EUR - said Nedeljković.
He reminded that 10 lines were introduced at the Terminal 2, which would enable much faster flow of passengers through passport and customs control. Soon, there should be retail stores built at the terminal with total surface of 24,000 square meters, which will be taken care of by the strategic partner, company "Dufri international" from Basel.
- Strategic partner obliged to invest few million euros, to hire some people and bring the world greatest names to manage sales and improve quality of services. I believe that, once that job is completed, we will be one step ahead of the competition - Nedeljković estimated.
