JTI announces USD 3 million investments in 2012
(Danilo Stojanovic and Jozef Nadj)
Danilo Stojanovic, new director of JTI's plant in Senta, said that the company's aims was to boost exports from Serbia and expand its operations in the Western Balkans.
- In order to achieve that, we plan to invest over USD 3 million in new technologies in 2012, which will enable us to increase the volume of production by as much as 12%. We will also continue to invest in the tobacco production because we believe that tobacco has a great export potential. In 2011, the value of tobacco exports to the European Union and cigarette exports to Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Croatia, and Albania is close to USD 22.5 million - he said.
Danilo Stojanovic also handed over a traditional New Year donation to the charity organization Caritas, which takes care of the Soup Kitchen in Senta.
Handing over the donation to Jozed Nadj, president of Caritas, the director of the Senta-based plant stressed:
- Ever since it came to Senta, Japan Tobacco International has been helping the Soup Kitchen because it needs that aid, especially knowing that the survival of soup kitchens across Serbia depends on donations. We hope some day there will be no need for a soup kitchen in Senta, but as long as it exists, we will be there to help it.
