Initiator of Portuguese “unicorn factory” ready to assist with opening similar program in Serbia

The minister of science, technological development and innovation of Serbia, Jelena Begovic, has met with the mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, who is also a former European commissioner for science technological development and innovations and the initiator of the “unicorn factory” – an innovative program for assistance to the startup ecosystem and development of high-potential companies.

At the meeting within the visit to this year’s Web Summit in Lisbon, one of the most significant global events in the field of technology and innovations, there was discussion about the possibility of opening a similar program in Serbia, and Moedas expressed a readiness to provide support and share the experiences, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.


Begovic said that Moedas had also expressed the desire to visit Serbia and learn about the country’s ecosystem of startups and innovations.

According to her, this meeting is a step toward strengthening the cooperation between Serbia and Portugal in the field of innovations and technological development, whereby new possibilities are opened for improving the Serbian startup ecosystem and attracting foreign investments to the innovation sector.
