European Travel Commission: Serbia recording strongest increase of FX inflow since 2019

According to the latest quarterly report of the European Travel Commission (ETC) from November 2024, Serbia realized the strongest growth of the FX inflow from foreign tourists, which, compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019, is higher by as much as 116.7%.

According to the ETC report, more than a half of the registered European destinations have exceed the levels of foreign arrivals from 2019, whereby nearly a third grew by more than 10%. South Mediterranean destinations have recorded an especially high performance, led by Serbia, which, compared to 2019, realized a growth of as much as 34%. According to the ETC report, behind Serbia are Malta, with 32% more, Portugal and Greece, whose growth amounted to 19% each, and Turkey, with 16%.

The director of the Tourism Organization of Serbia (TOS), Marija Labovic, points out that such great results additionally incite everybody who promotes the tourism of the Serbia to continue doing so.

– We continue breaking records, as shown by these ETC results. Their predictions are that 2024, when it comes to Europe, will be more successful in tourism by around 10% compared to the previous year, and I am convinced that Serbia too will realize great success, as shown by the data so far – said Labovic, as announced on the TOS website.

In the third quarter of this year, European tourism recorded a growth of 7% when it comes to arrivals of foreign tourists compared to 2023 and 6% compared to 2019. The number of overnight stays also increased compared to 2023, by 5%.
