– The new Government, led by Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, at the very start of its mandate showed extraordinary dedication to digitization and new technologies, primarily the development and implementation of artificial intelligence, because in the first 100 days of the Government’s work already, the prime minister formed the Council for Artificial Intelligence, which features eminent experts from the public government, the corporate sector and universities. The Council is already working on various tasks, primarily the implementation of artificial intelligence in everyday life, the quality of the operations of the public administration, public companies and the corporate sector. Also, Serbia is continuing to invest in the infrastructure and implementation of AI. The first upgrade of the super-computer will be made at the beginning of next year. That system is 7 times faster than the existing super-computer. The data storage space will be expanded by 120 TB and be connected with the NDR network technology with a speed of 200 Gb/s. This system delivers 32 PetaFLOPS of AI performances and will be available to the users in the first half of 2025, whereas another upgrade of the super-computer is expected by the end of next year – said director Jovanovic, as announced by the Office for IT and eGovernment.
He added that such systems are very demanding from the aspect of electricity consumption and that, at the State Data Center in Kragujevac, an IT module had been designed which would have the most modern system of water-based cooling and to which all three super-computers would be connected, making for a single cluster of the National Platform for Artificial Intelligence.
– Serbia has been given the great honor to preside over the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence in the next three years for the first time. In December, we are officially taking over the presidency, whereby Belgrade is becoming the first European capital city in which this international event and the epicenter of the most current AI solutions is held. On December 3-4, Belgrade is hosting the Ministerial Summit of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, in which ministers and leading experts from the whole world will take part – pointed out Jovanovic.
