Ministry issues decision on building permit for construction of new bridge in place of Old Sava Bridge

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has issued the decision on the building permit for the construction of the new Sava bridge.

In the document, that eKapija has had insight into, it is said that the investor, the Republic of Serbia, is allowed to build a new bridge in the location of the Old Sava Bridge.

– The construction of a bridge structure, road and tram routes on the bridge, a drainage system, the moving of the waterworks and sewerage, the installation of public lighting and electrical grounding, traffic signalization, overhead network and cofferdams is allowed – the decision says, among other things.

As added, the investor, the City of Belgrade, is allowed to move the waterworks and the sewerage.

The estimated value of these and other works cited in the decision on the building permit, as can be seen from it, is RSD 6.9 billion without the VAT.

Let us remind that, slightly earlier, the decision on the removal of the Old Sava Bridge was issued.

– As a ministry, we have issued the permit for the City of Belgrade to first start removing the Old Sava Bridge and to then build a new one. When this happens depends on the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency. That is not done by the ministry, but we have done what’s our obligation and now the construction of the new bridge can start – minister Goran Vesic said for the Novosti daily.

The plan is for the Old Sava Bridge to close to traffic on November 1, but it remains to be seen if that will happen, because the trams can only be redirected from it to the Ada Bridge after the reconstruction of the tram tracks in Savska Street, still ongoing, is finished.

According to the latest information, let us remind, the plan is for the old bridge structure to be moved to Zemun and connect the Zemun coast with Lido. The moving to this location has been mentioned on several occasions in the past years, but the idea has also been abandoned several times.
