According to the portal, the decision was forwarded to the competent institutions by minister Xhelal Svecla.
The change of the security measures pertains only to the Merdare crossing, whereas at other administrative points with central Serbia, the ban on import remains in effect.
The temporary authorities in Pristina stopped the import from the rest of Serbia following the arrest of three Kosovo policemen by the Serbian forces last year and the growing tensions in the north.
In the meantime, the security measures were changed, allowing for the import of raw materials and secondary raw materials necessary for final production.
The change followed Germany’s threat to Kosovo and Metohija that it would not be able to take part in the Berlin Process summit on October 14 unless it lifted the ban on the import of goods from Serbia.
According to the German special representative for the countries of the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, the ban blocks the operations of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).
