USPACE Technology Group, the Chinese supplier of services for space technology and Earth apps, has announced changes in its Board, and one change is especially interesting – former Serbian president Boris Tadic is now independent non-executive Director of this Hong Kong-based company.

USPACE said both the Group's newly appointed executive Director and chairman of the Board, Ben Amor (general director of the Arab Information and Communications Technologies Organization), and independent non-executive Director, Boris Tadic, possess extensive experience and expertise in the aerospace sector.

– Their global vision and extensive networks are expected to significantly enhance the Group's international competitiveness, facilitating the expansion of its global cooperation network and enabling it to better capitalize on development opportunities in the global aerospace market – the company says in its press release.

It is added that Tadic received an Honorary Doctorate from Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University (in Bucharest) in 2009. Tadic was formerly the President of Serbia from 2004 to 2012. Prior to that he served as the Minister of Defense of Serbia and Montenegro from 2003 to 2004 and the Minister of Telecommunications of Serbia and Montenegro from 2000 to 2003.

The job of an independent non-executive director entails a position similar to an independent adviser – he considers the business performances of the company and offers strategic guidelines and support to the executive team, but in general does not take part in the everyday management of the organization.

This is not Tadic’s first engagement in China. As he announced on X himself, this summer, he accepted the invitation to be a professor at the Belt and Road Department at Beijin Normal University.

– It is my honor and privilege to share my knowledge and experience in this study program with future diplomats in countries all over the world – Tadic wrote at the time.

He clarified that he would not move to China, but that he would “hold lectures, as I have done all these previous years, not just in China, but in other countries as well.”

Whether this latest engagement of the president and founder of the Social Democratic Party, an opposition party, means that he has definitely given up on politics remains to be seen.
