From January through July this year, Serbia realized a record income of EUR 1.5 billion from foreign guests, whereby the result from the entire of 2019 has already been exceeded in only seven months, stated the state secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Youth of Serbia, Uros Kandic.

In a statement for the Beta news agency, he said that, in the first seven months of this year, the foreign exchange had increased 16% compared to the same period in the previous record-setting year and added that it was nearly 10% higher than in the entire 2019.

– That it is a very prominent growth is also shown by the latest September barometer of the World Tourism Organization, according to which Serbia is still among the top countries in the world when it comes to the tempo of the growth of the income from international guests compared to the pre-pandemic period, which has been more than doubled – said Kandic.

He emphasized that, with the considerable growth of the foreign exchange inflow, tourism was among the most significant participants in the sector of the export of services, comprising around a fifth of the total export of services in Serbia.
