More than two million overnight stays in Belgrade in first seven months

By the end of July this year, Belgrade was visited by a total of 831,039 tourists from country and abroad, which is 13% more than in the same period last year, whereas the number of foreign tourists alone is bigger by 15% (722,756) from January, the Tourism Organization of Belgrade announced.

In the first seven months of this year, the total number of tourists in Belgrade, according to the data of the Secretariat for Governance – Statistics Sector, realized 2,056,867 overnight stays in the Belgrade accommodation capacities, which is an increase of 10%.

The most numerous guests were from Turkey (107,095, +49%), Russia (65,759) and China (49,883), from where there are 82% more than last year. They are followed by tourists from Croatia, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, whereas a higher growth has been recorded when it comes to guests from the USA, Italy, Great Britain and Spain.

In July, a total of 155,705 tourists visited Belgrade, which is 14% more compared to July last year, and the most numerous guests were from Turkey, Russia, China, Germany, Romania and the USA.

– Aside from the still by far the most numerous tourists from Turkey, who are coming from the market on which we have worked a lot, this summer, we have the biggest increase in the number of guests from China, of 200% in July, and according to all indicators, that number will continue to grow. An increase has been recorded in nearly all markets in which we have had promotional activities, and the structure of the tourists is changing slowly – said Miodrag Popovic, the director of the Tourism Organization of Belgrade.

– According to the data so far, we have had a very successful summer tourist season in Belgrade. We are waiting for the data for August, after which we will have an even more detailed overview. In the next period, we are looking at important business and promotional activities in several markets of importance for Belgrade and Serbia – added Popovic.
