Fortis Energy and Construction doo Beograd (a daughter company of the Turkish company Fortis Energy) and PowerChina International Group Limited have signed a framework agreement on cooperation and development of wind farm and solar power plant projects in Serbia and the wider region.

The projects envisaged by the agreement amount to a combined capacity of over 850 MW, and this agreement, as the Turkish company announced, is a considerable step forward in the sector of renewable energy sources, with the aim of utilizing the great wind and solar energy potential in southeast Europe.

With the seat in Belgrade, Fortis Energy is the eastern European seat of Fortis Energy Türkiye, which has operating capacities in Turkey and North Macedonia with over 250 MW of installed capacities, including solar and biogas power plants. The company manages operations in several countries, including Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

In Serbia, Fortis Energy actively works on several high-profile projects, including the development of wind farms with a total capacity of 509 MW, as well as solar projects with a total capacity of 387 MWp.

Fortis Energy also recently announced that it had received preliminary permits for three 509.4 MW wind projects in Serbia.

– EMS (Elektromreza Srbije) has issued an official statement regarding the connection to the power grid of the 171 MW Fortis Vranje wind farm and 194.4 MW Gornjak wind farm projects. Also, the preliminary permit process for the 144 MW Juhor wind farm project is underway – the Turkish company announced recently.

Let us remind that the Turkish company announced in late July that it had purchased a 180 MW solar project with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Sremska Mitrovica.

As they stated, they expect it to be one of the largest solar power plants and energy storage systems in Southeast Europe. Fortis plans to install a BESS with a capacity of 36 MWh, and the plan is for the construction of the solar complex to begin in 2025.

As previously announced, the mentioned three wind farms, in Jagodina, Petrovac and Vranje, are expected to be completed by 2026.

In May, Fortis announced that it was in final stages of the acquisition of two biogas power plants in Pancevo.

PowerChina International Group Limited, a subsidiary of Power Construction Corporation of China, offers all-encompassing services, including engineering, procurement and construction, as well as financing and investment services.
