Loan of EUR 15 million approved to Srbija Kargo for upgrade of rolling stock – Repair of 300 cargo vehicles planned

Banka Postanska stedionica has approved a long-term loan of EUR 15 million to the company Srbija Kargo a.d., and the guarantee for this loan has been provided by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the company announced. The proceeds from the approved loan will be directed at the modernization and upgrade of the rolling stock, with a special focus on the repair of 300 cargo vehicles.

Of the total value of the loan, EUR 2.5 million is meant for the repair of 160 vehicles of the Eas series, 70 vehicles of the Hbis series and 70 vehicles of the Regs series.

All three agreements have been signed, namely: for the repair of the first two vehicle series with the renowned Fabrika zeleznickih vozila Zelvoz d.o.o. from Smederevo, and for the third series Regs with the repair workshop Inter-mehanika from Smederevo.

As part of the repair, in addition to the mandatory proscribed works, the installation of new monoblock wheels will be done on a certain number of vehicles, as well as the modification of the traction and baffle devices by installing elastomer sets, which have proven to be the most reliable. Once these works are completed, the vehicles will be equipped for a safe and efficient use during the next six years.

The approved loan will also enable the repair of the diesel motors for the train engine 661, the regular maintenance of around five train engines of the series 621 in the workshops within the company, as well as the repair and maintenance of the Siemens Vectron train engines of the series 193.

A considerable part of the proceeds from the loan will be put into the purchase of the spare parts and equipment necessary for a regular and extraordinary maintenance and testing of the vehicles, including wheels for train engines and vehicles, bandages for train engines, bafflers, as well as the most modern testers for the checking of braking devices.
