Serbia third by road fatalities in Europe

According to the latest ETSC Road Safety Performance Index (PIN) for 2024, Bulgaria and Serbia are among the most dangerous countries for driving in Europe, as shown by the data analysis carried out by Tara-Car, a car rental company.

Bulgaria is at the top of the list with 82 fatalities per million citizens, which makes it the most dangerous country for drivers in Europe. Serbia, with 76 fatalities per million citizens, is third on this dark list.

The most dangerous countries:

  • Bulgaria: 526 road fatalities, 82 fatalities per million citizens
  • Romania: 1,545 road fatalities, 81 fatalities per million citizens
  • Serbia: 503 road fatalities, 76 fatalities per million citizens
  • Latvia: 142 road fatalities, 75 fatalities per million citizens
  • Greece: 621 road fatalities, 60 fatalities per million citizens
  • Portugal: 600 road fatalities, 60 fatalities per million citizens

The safest countries for driving in Europe are Norway and Sweden, with 20 and 22 fatalities per million citizens respectively.
