The power distribution system in the country is stable, although the consumption of electrical energy is around 30% higher than in the same period last year, stated Biljana Komnenic, the acting director of Elektrodistribucija Srbije (EDS). In Kraljevo, while visiting the site of the works on the adaptation of the “Kraljevo 2” substation, she said that the electricity consumption in August was lower than in July.

She assessed that the power facilities functioned well even with the average temperatures being around 15 degrees higher than in the same period in 2023.

– Our car navigation failed due to the excessive heat, so I’m even more glad to see that our substations, which feature sensitive equipment, are proving to be reliable even in these tropical days. Regardless, the teams are ready to react if there’s a need for it – said Komnenic.

She added that EDS’s teams were ready and mobile 24 hours a day, with an increased number of people, and that they were on site very quickly as per need.

– We insist on them wearing all the protective equipment, from helmets, through gloves and everything necessary for being safe and healthy while working, although the temperatures are high. Those rules are strict, and now I’ve made sure of the fact that everybody is complying with them. I am using the opportunity to thank the electrical workers here personally and to honor, though media, everybody in Serbia for their hard work in these extraordinary and difficult conditions – said Komnenic.

Komnenic also visited the site of the works on the adaptation of the 10-kV facility of the “Kraljevo 2” substation from 1979, whose purpose is to maintain the security and functionality of the electrical energy system.

It is said that this is one of the more important substations in Kraljevo, because it powers the industrial zone, the General Hospital “Studenica” and the core city center.
