Lafarge BFC Serbia plans to open a factory in Obrenovac where cement will be produced from ash collected at the thermal power plant dump site. This company plans to invest EUR 110 million in this factory in the initial phase, said Dimitrije Knjeginjic, company CEO.

As announced by the Government of Serbia, he added that this production will benefit Serbia and its economy, as well as that it is absolutely acceptable from an environmental point of view because it solves the problem of landfills.

- The goal of Lafarge BFC is to, through opening a factory in Obrenovac, turn this municipality into a hub for Serbia and surrounding countries when it comes to the production of construction materials from ash collected at the ash pit - he stated during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Serbia, Milos Vucevic, during which the Prime Minister also spoke with the director of the Holcim group company, Miljan Gutovic, regarding new projects in the field of building materials production.
