In the coming years, the plan is for a total of around 2,000 kilometers of rail tracks to be either built or modernized and to thereby renew nearly the entire rail network in the country, with the aim of meeting the EXPO 2027 event in Belgrade with an even more modern, more efficient and safer railroad, pointed out Jelena Tanaskovic, the director of the company Serbian Railways Infrastructure.

– The modernization of the rail Corridor 10 through Serbia and the construction of the Belgrade-Nis fast railroad has the most important place in our plans, because it is one of the biggest investment infrastructural projects, not just in our country, but in the region as well – Tanaskovic said for Blic.

This is a project whose value has been estimated at EUR 2.8 billion. With EUR 600 million in assistance for the Belgrade-Nis fast railroad, the European Union has confirmed itself as the biggest and most important donor for the modernization of rail traffic in Serbia, she pointed out.
