Serbia is an attractive investment destination and a very good place for investments of German companies, especially in the automotive industry and switching to electric vehicles, Mihailo Vesovic, the director of the Sector for Strategic Analyses, Services and Internationalization of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS), stated in Berlin.

As a member of the delegation of Serbia which is on an official two-day visit to Berlin, headed by the president of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, Vesovic emphasized in his statement for the media the remarkable significance of excellent cooperation with the German economy, one of the leading investors and employers.

– The companies which have already invested in Serbia are expanding their capacities and that is a positive signal they are sending, but we also expect new companies – said Vesovic, as announced on the CCIS website.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation of Serbia met in Berlin with German business people, whom Brnabic invited to invest in Serbia and take part in the international exhibition EXPO 2027, to be hosted by Belgrade.

The meeting with the business community of Germany was organized by the CCIS and the Eastern Committee of the German Economy.

– Germany is out most important trade partner. In 2023, we had a trade exchange of over EUR 9 billion. If we look at the total exchange of goods and services, that’s over EUR 11 billion. Germany is the biggest foreign employer in Serbia. German companies currently employ over 80,000 people in Serbia – pointed out Brnabic.

Talking about the future of Serbian economy, she said that it lay in high-tech and modern technologies and reminded that Serbia had introduced programming as a mandatory course in elementary schools. According to her, ICT has become the biggest growing sector of the Serbian economy. Biotechnology is also among the priorities.

– We have already signed memorandums of understanding with companies to start and accelerate clinical testing in Serbia, to enable research and development in biotechnology, which will also enable our citizens to get the most modern medical care in the future – said the president of the National Assembly and added that a quick green energy transition should commence too.
