Mercator to employ another 700 workers in Serbia until year's end
Mercator-S, one of the largest employers in Serbia, hired 239 workers in the first six months of 2011, and it plans to employ another 700 by the year's end, the company announced today.
In that way, after expanding its operations and retail network, the company will have nearly 5,000 employees at their enterprises Mercator-S, Intersport, and Modiana.
Aside from the fact that it regularly fulfills all obligations towards employees, in accordance with the Law on Labor, Mercator-S is the first trade company to sign an individual collective agreement with the Trade Union of Mercator-S. In that way, the company has confirmed a high level of responsibility toward its workers.
Mercator-S continuously invests in the development of its staff so that 3,300 employees at the company, which is nearly 80 percent of the total number, have completed some form of a specialist training.
During the first eight months of 2011, Mercator organized 21,270 specialist classes for its employees, as well as a training in management and personal development and a training for new workers.
Mercator-S is part of Mercator Group, the largest food trader in the region.
Mercator Group had a total of 23,620 employees on 30 June 2011, over 12,000 of whom work outside Slovenia, reads the company's release.
