Mobilkom Austria interested only in 100% of stocks of Mobtel ?
Mobilkom Austria is interested only in procurement of 100% of stocks of Mobtel and that is the message sent by the Austrians to the Prime Minister of Government of Serbia Vojislav Koštunica and the Ministers. They are not interested either purchase of 51% of stock, or any other package and their intention is backed by the Government of Austria.
Tibor Kartik, counselor in Mobilkom, thinks that if there was any agreement with Bogoljub Karić, it would be preceded by the agreement with the Government of Serbia. They are of the opinion that there is a chance to buy 100% of stocks. He reminds that director general of Mobilkom, Boris Nemšić, met Prime Minister Koštunica, Ministries Predrag Bubalo and Milan Parivodić and counselor of Prime Minister and, on that occasion, the intention of that company related to procurement of entire Mobtel was heard. Kartik points out that Mobilkom is ready to fulfill all demands of the Government of Serbia and that it will take part in tender for sale of State-owned package of stocks of Mobtel if the Government announces one. Mobilkom will accept any other way of sale that the Government suggests on the condition that the whole procedure be transparent. Kartik emphasizes that the members of Serbia's Government were very satisfied with Mobilkom's suggestions and that they said that they would "talk later", so that the representatives of Mobilkom hope that the negotiations will be continued.
He reminds that the management of Mobilkom had meetings with the representatives of Mobtel who told them that they were ready to sell the company.
- If BK Trade is sold to Alpha Group for real, then there is no reason to negotiate with them on sale of part of Mobtel. However, we will wait to hear the position of the Government of Serbia concerning that procurement. We estimate that the value of Mobtel is in constant decrease since that company is slowly losing the battle against Telekom. We think, also, that the procurement of entire package is the condition for successful restructuring of the company - says Kartik.
Commenting big debts of Mobtel towards the State, the ones related to unpaid dividends, Kartik points out that Mobilkom would be ready to take over those obligations if it became the owner of Mobtel.
Kartik says that Mobilkom is ready take part in the tender for license for the third mobile telephony operator because market of Serbia has big potentials. Coverage of the market speaks for itself. Austrian company is not afraid of direct duel with Telekom and Mobtel because it can compete with them through offering of new services, better quality and lower prices. That, however, means that the Austrians are ready to take part in the tender for sale of State-owned share of Telekom since that company owns both fixed and mobile network, whereas Mobilkom deals only with mobile telephony.
