The mounting of the pylons, blades and wind generators of the Wind Farm Kostolac is expected to begin in the summer, so that, at the beginning of next year, we would have a new wind farm connected to the grid, said the minister of mining and energy of Serbia, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, who visited the works on the construction of the first wind farm of Elektroprivreda Srbije today.

– The Wind Farm Kostolac is a true example of how old mine disposal sites can be used for projects of renewable energy sources. With this project, as well as the Solar Power Plant Petka, which is being built at the nearby ash disposal site, we are creating the conditions for a new Elektroprivreda Srbije – said the minister, as announced by the ministry.

She added that the ministry would closely follow the continuation of the construction of the wind farm.

– There have been certain delays due to the moving of the planning deadlines. When it comes to the permits, the state has finished its job so far and now it is up to the contractor to finish the works within the planned deadline. All the traffic routes and access roads are complete, and the works on the foundations and platforms are in progress at the moment. A part of the equipment has already arrived, and the rest is on its way from Spain, Turkey and China. We expect the mounting of the pylons, blades and wind generators to begin in the summer, so that, at the beginning of next year, we would have a new wind farm connected to the grid – said Djedovic Handanovic.

The acting director of Elektroprivreda Srbije, Dusan Zivkovic, said that the wind farm of 20 wind generators with a power of 66 MW would produce electrical energy for 30,000 households.

– The investment is worth EUR 144 million, of which 32.2 million is to be set aside by EPS, the EU grants amount to 30 million, whereas 80 million is to be loaned by the KfW bank with a grant of EUR 1.8 million. This project is part of the changes of the production portfolio of EPS, that is, part of one of the most important development tasks of the company, which is to increase the share of renewable energy sources – said Zivkovic.
