New museums, which will be built in Belgrade, and existing ones which will be reconstructed with the aim of significantly improving the cultural scene of the capital and Serbia, were presented on International Museum Day by Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali and Minister of Culture Nikola Selakovic.

Mali and Selakovic presented Belgrade's new museum district, which will be located on the stretch from Sava Square to Resavska Street and Mostarska Petlja.

Mali explained that there will be four new museums in this museum district - the Historical Museum of Serbia, the Children's Museum, the Belgrade City Museum and the Nikola Tesla Museum, the Government website reported.

He pointed out that the old railway station building from 1884 will be the Historical Museum of Serbia, noting that a building permit has already been obtained and that a contractor will be chosen in the next few months.

Also, the old Post Office building will get its old, pre-WW2 look back, and that building will house a new Children's Museum and two new theater stages, Mali presented.

A little further down Savska Street, there is a building built by industrialist Milan Vapa back in 1924. That building will house a new Nikola Tesla museum, he said, adding that this titan of our history will be properly represented.

Mali pointed out that the Natural History Museum at Usce will also be constructed; the Aviation Museum near the Nikola Tesla Airport will be completely reconstructed.

Selakovic said that "after the economic renewal of our country, a serious spiritual, cultural and artistic renewal will follow, and it is just starting with these big projects in our capital".

He said that our capital will soon get more than 50,000 square meters of museum space that it didn't have until now, which is "great news for our culture".
