(Signatories) European business associations and bilateral chambers that represent the interests of companies with European capital in Serbia joined together in order to establish the Council of European Business Associations and Chambers in Serbia. The founding memorandum was signed today, marking the beginning of a new era of cooperation and synergy of the European business sector in Serbia. In its future work, the newly established entity will define common interests and be a platform for all future initiatives and activities, according to the press release of the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The signing took place in the presence of the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, who, together with ambassadors from the countries of the signatory association, welcomed this initiative and underlined the importance of strengthening "Team Europe" and representing common economic interests.

The main goal of CEBAC - the Council of European Business Associations and Chambers is the further development and improvement of the legal, institutional and competitive business framework for the successful operation of all companies operating in Serbia, both those with international and local capital.

In addition, the Council will strive to further improve trade relations between countries of the European continent and Serbia. In this context, trade should by no means be a one-way street; that is why our business associations and chambers are working on improvement in both directions: towards Serbia and from Serbia, the statement added.

According to estimates, over 5,000 companies with European capital are operating in Serbia, which have created over 200,000 jobs in this country.

When it comes to foreign trade, European countries are Serbia's most important trade partners - both in terms of imports and exports.

The Council will work, with dedication, on advocating and encouraging the implementation of strategies which strengthen cooperation between Serbia and other European markets, thereby strengthening regional economic stability and growth, the announcement stated.

The memorandum on the establishment of the Council was signed by the following organizations: Belgian-Serbian Business Association, Konfindustria Serbia, Croatian Business Club, French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Hellenic Business Association of Serbia, Chamber of Italian-Serbian Businessmen, Dutch-Serbian Business Association , Polish-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Nordic Business Alliance, Slovenian Business Club, Swiss-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

During the evening, the first ever "European Networking Cocktail" will be organized, which will bring together companies that are members of European business associations and bilateral chambers.
