Labus: Serbia will be ready for membership in the EU as soon as in 2012
The vice president of the Government of Serbia, Miroljub Labus, estimated on April, 7th, 2006 that Serbia already crossed 2/3 of the way to European Union, and that now it had left the hardets part of the job in order to become a member of the 'European family'.
Labus precised that among other areas which need to be ordered were energetics, public companies, telecommunications and competition, and he expressed hope that Serbia would be ready for membership as soon as in 2012.
The vice president of the Government said that he hoped that the finalization of negotiations about Agreement of stabilization and joining of SCG to the Union would be in July, 2006, and that our country would apply for membership already in 2008, or 2009. Labus repeated that the second official round of negotiations with EU, which had been finished on Wednesday, was successfull and he added that in the next, technical round of negotiations appointed for May, 12th, 2006, it would be mostly discussed about visa allowances.
