CLS: Where is the Ada Huja bridge project?

Back in December 2019, the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency got the preliminary design for the bridge on Ada Huja, which was paid around EUR 735,000 with the VAT, but to this day, nothing has been done, stated Nikola Jovanovic, the director of the Center for Local Self-Government (CLS) and a former member of the city parliament.

– If those in charge had opened the tender for the preparation of approval planning and started obtaining all the other permits and approvals immediately, the construction of the Ada Huja bridge would now be well on its way. And, as the preliminary design says that the construction of the bridge itself would take up to three years, it is very likely that, today, the bridge would already be in the final construction phase and that it would be completed at the beginning of 2025.

With the completion of the bridge on Ada Huja, motor vehicle traffic would be redirected to it from the Pancevo Bridge, which is around 2.6 km upstream, so a serious and detailed reconstruction of the Pancevo Bridge, which has been announced and awaited for over 10 years, could finally start – explains the director of the CLS.

– This way, somebody “stole” the bridge on Ada Huja from the citizens of Belgrade, and witnesses to the “theft” are all the citizens who suffer daily traffic jams on the Pancevo bridge, which is in poor condition and overloaded as it is – concludes Jovanovic.
