Hydroelectric power plants on wish list of German companies - Possible partners to Serbia's energy sector
Two companies from Germany are very interested in investing in power plants in Serbia, especially in hydroelectric power plants, Blic daily learns. People at the Serbian government are happy to hear this because they do not want Russians to take over the electricity sector after they have already taken control of the oil sector.
During her stay in Serbia, Angela Merkel will be accompanied by a group of German businessmen who are quite interested in investing in the energy sector of Serbia. Since the oil sector already belongs to Russians, it seems that the Serbian government wants to see investors from the West in other fields of the energy sector.
By the way, the plan is that the German energy giant RWE builds five hydroelectric power plants on the Velika Morava river in Serbia, which is an investment worth about EUR 350 million. People in the energy circles already consider that company a good potential strategic partner for the Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) in case of its privatization. Sijka Pistolova, editor of the website Energyobserver, told Blic that it was good for Serbia to have investors from the Western Europe as well.
