The price of gas for the economy, that is, industrial consumers, will be lower by around 15% from May 1, and the price for households will not change, announced the director of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic.

– Conditions have met for the price of gas to be lowered for industrial consumers and those who are in the free market. This price decrease will amount to 15% plus-minus 1%. We will see how much it is precisely once we calculate everything, but companies can count on the price decrease to amount to 15% – Bajatovic said for RTS.

He said that, from May 1, the state would no longer subsidize the prices of gas and added that there had been extensive discussions about it within the Government of Serbia, the Ministry of Energy and, above all, the Ministry of Finance.

– We have had that social policy for a long time, you all know that it cost over USD 1 billion, we thereby protected the purchasers, the economy, jobs and everything else. We have now made the decision for the Government of Serbia to no longer subsidize gas and for Srbijagas not to borrow anymore from May 1, the price will be realistic – said Bajatovic.

The director of Srbijagas also said that the prices in the market had increased 25% in the preceding days.
