The document was signed by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, the director of the PUC Belgrade Metro and Train, Andreja Mladenovic, the acting secretary for public transport of the City of Belgrade, Radovan Kremic, and the representative of Power China, Yang Fan.
As pointed out while visiting the terrain where the embankment is being established for the construction of the depot, the completion of that part of the job is expected in the summer months.
– The works here began at the end of 2021. We have done a lot in this location of 72 hectares and the preparatory works are being brought to a close much before the deadline, since the deadline is December this year. 96% of the pouring of the sand is already completed. Over a million cubic meters of sand has been poured and the pouring of crushed rock has begun. Today’s annex to the agreement initiates the activities on the project of the depot to be built in this location – Mali said while visiting the location, as announced by the Ministry of Finance.
He reminded that the first subway line would have 21 stations with a length of 21 kilometers, whereas the second would have 24 stations, and the length is 24 kilometers.
– The works are going as planned and by 2028, or 2029 at the latest, the first line will be completed. The planning of the second line of the subway is well on its way, which would mean that the works on that line could start next year as well – Mali says and adds that “a big boulevard through Makisko Polje itself will be made.”
Goran Vesic has announced works throughout Belgrade for 2025, especially emphasizing the first part of the Belgrade city train, which, along with the subway, will enable a majority of the public transport, maybe even up to 80%, to be rail transport as soon as 2030.
– As soon as this year, within EXPO, we are beginning to connect the first part of our BG Voz from Zemun Polje to the Nikola Tesla Airport and EXPO, Surcin, later to Obrenovac as well – said Vesic.
He announced the expansion of the Belgrade rail hub and pointed out that, with the construction of the fast railroads to Subotica and Nis, there would be more trains.
