Project of Road Map of Smart Cities for Serbia Launched

The project “A Journey to a Smarter Future: Establishing Smarter and More Sustainable Communities in Serbia”, organized by the Nordic Business Alliance and in cooperation with the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, was launched in Kragujevac today. At the conference and two workshops, solutions are presented which will make cities “smarter” when it comes to infrastructure, utility services and the living environment.

Local and Nordic experts are presenting examples of good practice, the challenges they face and how to engage key actors, especially citizens, to take “a journey to a smarter future.”

The role of innovations and business in that process has been presented as well, through examples on how the private sector can accelerate the agenda of smart cities in Serbia, including the availability of smart solutions, regulations, financing, innovative public procurement procedures.

Examples in Serbia of how smart city infrastructure can improve the citizens’ lives are also being presented.

The partners on the project are the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED), the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM), and support is provided by the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government.
