Srbobran hosts 2015 Workers Olympics - Construction of swimming pool and aqua park kicks off in autumn
Srbobran is the first town in Vojvodina to get the chance for the second time to organize the workers' sports games. This Workers Olympics will be held in 2015, and Srbobran has been selected between Apatin, Senta, Becej and Zabalj to host the event. The first these sports games in Srbobran were held in 2000.
- To be the host is an acknowledgement, as well as an opportunity for higher authorities to additionally invest in the town, in sports infrastructure in particular. That was also recently confirmed by Provincial Secretary for Labor and Employment Miroslav Vasin who stressed that we can hope for significant funds from the provincial budget. For example, Backa Palanka received RSD 300 million for the organization of this year's games, and we also expect to get a support from the Government of Vojvodina - said Branko Gajin, mayor of Srbobran.
Gajin is of the opinion that the fact that the town is going to host and organize these games perfectly "fits in the local plan for tourism development, that is, construction of a swimming pool and an aqua park".
- Project documentation for the construction of a swimming pool will be finished very soon and it will be followed by a tender and, we hope, commencement of works in autumn. We have completed the financial structure and we will be able to finance the construction of an Olympic swimming pool, a swimming pool 25 meters long and 10 meters wide, two small pools for children, and a swimming pool that should later include various fun contents, all that on an area of three hectares. We could use the assistance of the Government of Vojvodina in these and other projects. We believe that we are going to be good hosts, just like we were in 2000. We have the necessary experience, our sports infrastructure have been significantly improved, and I believe we can organize the best Workers Olympics - said Gajin.
