Serbia Realizes Budget Surplus of RSD 30.2 Billion in January – Public Debt at End-Month 48.3% of GDP

At the end of January this year, the public debt of Serbia amounted to around EUR 33.20 billion, which is 48.3% of the gross domestic product (GDP), announced the Ministry of Finance. At the end of 2023, the public debt was EUR 35.15 billion, that, is, 52% of the GDP. At the end of 2022, the public debt of Serbia was EUR 33.33 billion, or 55.1% of the GDP.

When it comes to the state budget, in January, Serbia realized a surplus of RSD 30.2 billion, which is better than the budget plan by RSD 40.6 billion, considering that a deficit of RSD 10.4 billion had been planned, the Ministry of Finance pointed out.


Revenues amounting to RSD 173 billion were collected, of which tax revenues amounted to RSD 150.8 billion. A majority of the tax revenues pertained to the VAT payments of RSD 80.7 billion and excise tax payments of RSD 42.1 billion.
