From mid-April, it will be possible to pass through Montenegro with the Serbian electronic toll collection (ETC) device, and from May 15, it will also be possible to pass through Croatia. At the Kopaonik Business Forum, the PE Roads of Serbia presented the platform at which TAG owners would be able to register for traveling without delays at toll stations.

The multilingual platform “Toll4All” aims to bring together all the countries of the region within a single ETC system.

– In 2023, we successfully completed the connecting process and I am proud to say that the system with close to 50,000 users is functioning very well. With the inability to collect the toll from vehicles which is measured in permille units, 0.001, I can announce that the system with Croatia should start working from May 15 this year, and the one with Montenegro in a month or so at the latest – announces Darko Savic from the Toll Collection Sector of the PE Roads of Serbia.

All countries of the region in a single toll collection system

All users of ETC in North Macedonia have had a positive experience, points out Kiril Karkalasev, the head of the Maintenance and Toll Collection Sector.

– We have reduced the stops we had at toll stations in the summer period and increased the number of pass-throughs, so all the reactions are very positive – Karkalasev says.

Last year, the protocols on cooperation were signed with Croatia and Montenegro and, according to those familiar with the matter, technical teams are currently working on the implementation of the system.

– It seems that we are on the threshold of the solution itself. I expect that we will all together express the readiness and interest and that we will make the final decisions regarding this issue and that we will able to establish a single toll collection system in the entire region, which is certainly the most important thing at today’s meeting – emphasized Nedeljko Coric, the director of Auto-putevi Republike Srpske.

Dusan Corlija, the technical director of Monteput, points out that the European practice and striving in the region is to connect in each field where it’s possible, to facilitate the functioning and use of highways for the users and citizens.
