The German company Wieland Electric has announced that it will close its production facility in Cacak, due to “the continued tension regarding the economic situation, combined with a disproportionate increase in the operating and logistics costs.”

The facility in Cacak will be closed by the end of May, and 125 workers will lose their jobs.

– We are very sorry that we have had to make this difficult decision. The professional approach, the qualifications and the dedication of the employees in Serbia has impressed us from the very beginning up to the present day – the company says in the announcement.

The German company has announced that, in addition to the severance packages, it will pay additional bonuses to the employees for their “dedication and hard work.”

Wieland Electric, which produces electrical installations meant for the construction sector, launched production activities in Cacak in 2018 with its own funds, without subsidies from either the city or the state.
