Fabrika Ulja Banat in Nova Crnja to Expand Capacities – Construction of Two Hexane Tanks Planned

Fabrika Ulja Banat from Nova Crnja plans to expand its capacities in the coming period and build two hexane tanks, with a capacity of 55 cubic meters each.

This edible oil plant, through the design and engineering company Petrol Projekt from Pancevo, submitted the request for deciding on the necessity of the environmental impact assessment of said project at the end of last year to the Municipal Administration of Nova Crnja. The construction of the tanks is planned within the existing factory complex, in the industrial zone in Nova Crnja.

As said in the description of the project, n-hexane would be stored in the tanks. This is a chemical solvent, which, among other things, is used for the extraction of various edible oils and fats, such as soy, rice and spices.

The newly designed tanks will be dug-in, with a double shield and under vacuum, to prevent the possibility of the leaking of the fluid into the ground and ground waters.

– The planned metering and regulation equipment and the long shield would prevent the possibility of the uncontrolled leaking and overflowing of the fluid which would be stored in the tanks. The technical-technological solution would remove the potential environmental pollution – emphasizes the request for deciding on the necessity of the environmental impact assessment.
