Vesic: Vinci Responsible for Error at Nikola Tesla Airport, There Will Be Consequences

The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic, has stated that the errors at the Nikola Tesla Airport which led to flight delays and cancellations were caused by “human error” and that Vinci, the concessionaire which runs the Belgrade Airport, will suffer the consequences.

– The control was completed yesterday. Vinci, with which Serbia has a contract, made an error. They are poorly organized. I have warned them to show more respect to our passengers – Vesic said on TV Pink.

The minister said that the responsible persons would be sanctioned and added that Vinci frequently made mistakes.

– We are grateful to the French company for having invested in the Belgrade Airport. Each year, they pay a considerable sum in the budget and that’s all alright, but they don’t do so out of love, but because they benefit from it. We penalize them every time they make a mistake, and they have to operate according to our country’s laws – Vesic added.

He said that several people had been employed not too long ago and that he hoped that the airport would function better because of it.

On Sunday, the operations of the passport control were stopped due to the mixing of the passengers in the transit zone, due to which 17 flights of Air Serbia were delayed, and flights were canceled as well.

The Civil Aviation Directorate of Serbia announced yesterday that, through extraordinary control, they had determined mistakes made by the staff in charge of the ground service.
