(Re)reconstruction of Outdoor Pool in Tas to Begin at End-Month – Full Replacement of Pool Technology Also Planned

The reconstruction of the outdoor pool in Tas should begin in late January, the Sports Center “Tasmajdan” confirmed for the Novosti daily. It entails a full replacement of the pool technology with an extension of the shell of the external pool, which was last changed in 2002. The subsidy from the city budget for this investment amounts to RSD 240 million.

The majority of the planned amount, around 80%, is meant for the replacement of the obsolete, worn-out pool technology after 22 years. Also, the pool will get a new system for the electrolysis of water, because chorine was banned a long time ago as dangerous to health.

– The Sports Center “Tasmajdan” will be one of the complexes for the upcoming European swimming tournament, which is held from June 10 to 23 in Belgrade. We don’t believe that, by then, we will also be able to extend the external pool shell, so it will be used for the warmup of the competitors. The depth of the pool is 1.76 to 1.94 meters, and it needs to be two meters – they say at the administration of the SC “Tasmajdan”.

Last summer, the public procurement procedure was opened because, during the previous reconstruction of the pool, its depth was reduced, so it no longer meets the requirements for holding international competitions in water sports, in accordance with "FINA" standards. Due to this, it is necessary to raise the height of the existing outdoor pool, but also the pool technology within that.

Let us remind that the reconstruction of the outdoor swimming pool in Tasmajdan was completed in the summer of 2020. The pool shell was repaired at the time, as was the construction of a new, pro-chromic bed of the overflow canals and pool lighting. Part of the pool equipment and the water treatment system was replaced, the ground floor was renovated, a larger number of showers were installed, the toilets were reconstructed, the grandstands and the sub-stand area were renovated. The repair of the children’s pool was completed in 2022.
