Inflation in Serbia in 2023 at 12.1%

Prices of goods and services used for personal consumption, which are used as an official inflation measure, in 2023 in relation to 2022 increased by 12.1%, on average, announced the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

Year-on year inflation in December amounted to 7.6%, and month-on-month inflation was 0.1%.

Observed by main groups according to the destination of consumption, in December 2023 in relation to the previous month, increase of prices was noted in the groups Recreation and culture (1.2%), Furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (1.0%), Clothing and footwear (0.9%), Health (0.5%), Communication (0.3%).


Increase was also noted in the groups Food and non-alcoholic beverages, Alcoholic beverages and tobacco and Restaurants and hotels (each by 0.2%) and Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.1%).

Decrease of prices was noted in the group Transport (-1.6%).
