Construction of Cycling Lane from Novi Sad to Belgrade Current Again – Looking for Planner, New Spatial Plan to Be Prepared Too

The PE Roads of Serbia has published the tender for the preparation of planning and technical documentation for the designing of the cycling lane from Novi Sad to Belgrade.

The initiative for the construction of the cycling lane along the state road no. 100 (on Novi Sad-Belgrade road) dates back to 2018, and as the program task reminds, for the purposes of its construction, the Spatial Plan of the Special-Purpose Area was prepared in 2019. The tender for the planning was announced for 2020.

– However, the concept with defining the cycling lane within the current regulation of the state road is not an adequate solution, because the cycling lane is planned on the majority of the section to alternate between either side of the driving lane and with very frequent stretches where the movement of cyclists across the driving lane, together with motor vehicle traffic, is planned, which doesn’t create adequate conditions for safe bicycle traffic along the state road – the tender says.

Therefore, it is said, the PE Roads of Serbia initiated an amendment of the existing planning documentation and the preparation of adequate technical documentation.

The construction of said cycling lane is for the most part planned on the route of the official cycling route Belgrade-Novi Sad, and the planned width of the lane is 2 meters. The planning job is estimated at RSD 40 million.
